2025 Golf Recap: The Year’s Most Spectacular Shots

The 2025 season comes to a close. We look back at the most spectacular and unforgettable golf shots of the year.

As the 2025 golf season wraps up, it’s time to reflect on the moments that defined the year. From Europe’s Ryder Cup triumph to Rory McIlroy’s long-awaited Grand Slam, the season was packed with unforgettable highlights. But often, it’s not just the victories that stick with us — it’s the shots that made them possible. Here are some of the most iconic and jaw-dropping shots that thrilled fans and players alike in 2025.

Rory McIlroy’s Heroic Shot on Hole 15 at the Masters

Arguably the shot of the year came at Augusta National’s 15th hole. Tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Åberg after 14 holes, Rory McIlroy faced a daunting second shot on the par 5 with a tree obstructing his line. Instead of playing it safe, McIlroy unleashed a bold draw that landed just feet from the pin. The shot not only showcased his skill but also his determination to finally conquer the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam.

Patrick Reed’s Historic Albatross at the U.S. Open

Oakmont is known for its brutal difficulty, and the U.S. Open rarely sees low scores. That made Patrick Reed’s albatross on the 568-meter par-5 fourth hole even more remarkable. Using a fairway wood from 261 meters, Reed holed out for just the fourth albatross in U.S. Open history — and the first ever at Oakmont.
