2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Unbelievable Shots of the Year

The 2025 golf season is ending. We look back at the greatest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season comes to a close, it is time to reflect. With the European team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam, and many other highlights, there is much to remember from the year. Rarely do we think about the individual shots that led to these successes, though these shots are often just as spectacular as the wins themselves. This year, there were again legendary shots that players and fans will remember for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot at Hole 15 at the Masters

Probably the most legendary shot of the year came at the 15th hole of the Masters. Rory McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg after 14 holes. His tee shot went slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green on this par 5 hole. While most players would aim for a safer shot to secure par, McIlroy took a full-risk shot with an enormous draw towards the green, landing the ball just next to the pin. This shot not only showcased the Northern Irishman’s skill but also his incredible determination to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam this year.

Patrick Reed Makes History with Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses globally, and the US Open is a tournament where scoring under par is already a chance for a title. Even more incredible was Patrick Reed’s shot on the par-5 fourth hole this year. Taking his fairway wood for the second shot from 261 meters, he hit the ball directly into the hole for an albatross — only the fourth time in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
