2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Remarkable Golf Shots

The 2025 season is coming to a close. We look back at the greatest highlight shots and unforgettable golf moments of the year.

As the 2025 season ends, it is time to look back. With the European team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam achievements, and many more highlights, there is much to remember from this year. Often, the individual shots that led to these successes are overlooked, yet they are just as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year once again brought legendary shots that both players and fans will remember for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on Hole 15 at the Masters

Perhaps the most legendary shot of the year took place on hole 15 at the Masters. McIlroy was tied after 14 holes with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His tee shot veered slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green on this par-5 hole. While most players would have played it safe to secure par, McIlroy took full risk, shaping a massive draw towards the green and landed the ball just beside the pin. This shot displayed not only the Northern Irishman’s skill but also his incredible determination to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam this year.

Patrick Reed’s Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the most challenging courses worldwide, and the US Open is a tournament where shooting under par is a solid chance at the title. Even more incredible was Patrick Reed’s second shot on the 568-meter par-5 fourth hole during this year’s US Open. Using his fairway wood, he holed out from 261 meters for an albatross, the fourth in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.

J.J. Spaun’s 20-Meter Putt to Win the US Open

One never forgets their first major win, especially when securing it as J.J. Spaun did at the US Open. After four exhausting days and a tough Sunday start, Spaun needed to make a par on the back nine to clinch his first major title. Defying expectation, he instead sank a 20-meter birdie putt to capture victory.

Longest Putt on the PGA Tour Since 2008 – 32 Meters

At the Valero Texas Open, Patrick Fishburn stood out despite finishing tied for fifth. On the 17th hole, he made an eagle putt from 32 meters (105 feet), the longest on the PGA Tour since 2008, boosting him into the top ranks on the final day.

Rory McIlroy’s Eagle Forcing Playoff at the Irish Open

On September 7th at the K Club in Ireland, an electrifying roar erupted as Rory McIlroy holed an 8-meter eagle putt on the 18th hole, forcing a playoff against Joakim Lagergren. McIlroy eventually won the tournament, securing a memorable home victory.
