End-of-Year Golf Roundup: Scheffler, Koepka, McIlroy & More

Koepka’s suspension, Pereira’s retirement, McIlroy’s club tally, Müller’s swing tips, and Williams’ golf classic. The back nine of the year.

When will Scottie Scheffler complete the career Grand Slam? With wins at the Masters, PGA Championship, and Open Championship, only the U.S. Open remains. The 126th edition at Shinnecock Hills in six months could be his moment. Given his dominance on the PGA Tour, few doubt the world No. 1 will join the elite club of Grand Slam winners alongside McIlroy, Woods, Nicklaus, Player, Hogan, and Sarazen. Bookmakers already have Scheffler as the heavy favorite for all four majors in 2026.

Bennett Scheffler’s Grand Slam Journey?

With Scottie’s son Bennett accompanying the family to tournaments, Golf Digest jokingly speculated when the toddler might complete his own Grand Slam — as a spectator. Having witnessed two of his dad’s major wins already, Bennett turns two in May and is just two titles short of a ‘spectator slam’. With Scottie favored at all four majors in 2026, Bennett’s odds look good too.

Koepka’s Return, Pereira’s Exit

Brooks Koepka could be back on the PGA Tour in August 2026 if he reapplies for membership after serving a one-year suspension post-LIV Golf. Taylor Gooch will take over as Smash GC captain. Meanwhile, Mito Pereira has announced his retirement from professional golf to focus on family life in Chile. Sergio Garcia extended his LIV contract and reactivated Luis Masaveu, making Fireballs GC an all-Spanish team.

McIlroy’s 18 Club Memberships

Rory McIlroy is a member of 18 golf clubs, including Holywood GC, The Royal & Ancient GC of St Andrews, and the exclusive Seminole GC — where he also covers the membership for his father. With a projected +8.7 handicap based on 2025 results, McIlroy remains one of the most sought-after names in golf.
