After strong performances in Bahrain and California, Schott and Jäger rise in the world golf rankings as the leaderboard shifts.
The tournament weekend featuring the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship of the DP World Tour in Bahrain and the Farmers Insurance Open of the PGA Tour in Southern California brought notable changes to the official world golf rankings.
In a nerve-wracking finale at the Bahrain Championship, Freddy Schott from Düsseldorf (Düsseldorfer Golf Club) emerged victorious. His win propelled him 94 places upwards from 103rd to 9th in the Race to Dubai standings. On the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), Schott climbed over 200 spots, moving from 436th at the start of the week to 195th, placing him within the top 200 globally. Close to him in the rankings is Nicolai von Dellingshausen, also from Düsseldorf but originally associated with Golf Club Hubbelrath, currently ranked 192nd with no change from the previous week.
Jäger Also Advances in the OWGR – Movements at the Top
At the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, Stephan Jäger launched his comeback on Saturday and secured a tied 5th place with 15 strokes under par on the final Sunday. This effort elevated the 36-year-old from Munich into the top 100 OWGR, climbing 22 places to 99th. He now closely trails the top German player, Matti Schmid, who ranks 98th and finished tied 56th at the same event. The point difference separating them is a slim 0.0216.
The top ranks of the OWGR also saw shifts: Englishman Justin Rose’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open moved him up seven places from 10th to 3rd, while Tommy Fleetwood dropped from 3rd to 4th. English Russell Henley and Scot Robert MacIntyre each slipped one spot. Justin Rose now stands just behind second-placed Rory McIlroy, with Scottie Scheffler maintaining a solid lead as world number one, holding about 8.5 points ahead of the Northern Irishman.
