After strong performances in Bahrain and California, Schott and Jäger climb the Official World Golf Rankings, as shifts occur at the top.
Following the tournament weekend featuring the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour in Bahrain and the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour in Southern California, notable changes took place in the Official World Golf Rankings. After a thrilling finish at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, Freddy Schott from Düsseldorf (Düsseldorfer Golf-Club) emerged as the tournament winner.
With his victory, Schott climbed an impressive 94 places from 103rd to 9th in the Race to Dubai standings. Additionally, on the Official World Golf Rankings, Schott advanced over 200 spots: at the start of last week he was ranked 436, showing little change from his 2025 ranking. Following his glorious win in Bahrain, Schott now ranks 195, placing him inside the top 200. Close by in the rankings is Nicolai von Dellingshausen, also from Düsseldorf but originally associated with Golf Club Hubbelrath, who remains steady at 192.
Jäger Also Climbs the Rankings – Movement at the Top
At the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, Stephan Jäger began a comeback rally on Saturday and finished tied for 5th on Sunday with a score of 15 under par. This result propelled the 36-year-old from Munich into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Gaining 22 places, Jäger is now ranked 99th, closely following Germany’s top player Matti Schmid, who finished tied 56th at the tournament and is currently 98th, with a mere 0.0216 point difference separating them.
There were also shifts among the top ranks in the Official World Golf Rankings. Englishman Justin Rose’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open moved him up seven positions from 10th to 3rd. Tommy Fleetwood dropped from 3rd to 4th, while fellow Englishman Russell Henley and Scotsman Robert MacIntyre each fell one spot. Rose now sits behind second-ranked Rory McIlroy and the untouchable number one Scottie Scheffler, who holds about an 8.5-point lead over the Northern Irishman.
