TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

The Los Angeles team secures victory against New York with a strong team effort and Justin Rose’s historic albatross.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was marked by the first albatross in TGL history, made by Justin Rose. The Los Angeles Golf Club ultimately secured the win in the second phase, the singles matches.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

During the triples phase, Los Angeles threw the first hammer on the second hole, earning two points early. Jupiter Links responded with their own hammer on the fifth hole, gaining an important point, but Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole. After nine holes, Los Angeles led 4-1, with Jupiter Links committing a penalty stroke on the final triples hole.

In the singles phase, momentum swung heavily in favor of Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (a par 5) with a confident 300-meter drive. Max Homa from New York played solidly but shorter. Despite good positioning by New York, Rose’s play dominated the match.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Scores First TGL Albatross

On the tenth hole, Justin Rose made history with an albatross using a 4-iron from 210 meters, electrifying fans at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods, present at the match, admitted he had never achieved an albatross in his career. This boosted Los Angeles’s lead to 5-1.

Jupiter Links rallied, gaining three points on holes 12 and 13. Kevin Kisner made a par on 12 after Collin Morikawa incurred a penalty. Max Homa’s birdie and hammer move narrowed the score to 4-5, adding late tension.

Final Holes: Los Angeles Closes Out the Match

Los Angeles saved a hammer for the penultimate hole, which New York accepted. Collin Morikawa’s par secured the hole and effectively sealed the match. The final hole saw no points for New York, leading to an 8-4 win for Los Angeles.

This win brings Los Angeles to a playoff-contending 1-1-0 record, while Jupiter Links faces its fifth consecutive loss since last season. Jupiter Links will have a week off before facing defending champions Atlanta Drive
