With a strong team effort and a historic moment from Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.
On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was marked by the first-ever albatross in TGL history, achieved by Justin Rose. It was only in the second phase of play, the singles, that Los Angeles secured a clear victory.
Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead
During the Triples phase, Los Angeles threw the first hammer on the second hole, securing two points early on. Jupiter Links responded with their first hammer on the fifth hole to score a crucial point, but Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole. By the ninth hole, Los Angeles closed the Triples phase with a 4:1 lead, helped by a penalty incurred by Jupiter on the final Triples hole.
In the Singles phase, Los Angeles dominated. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (a par 5) with a powerful 300-meter drive, outdistancing Max Homa’s solid but shorter shot. Homa’s second shot landed just short of the green, positioning New York to try and recover points.
Historic Moment: Justin Rose Makes TGL’s First Albatross
On the tenth hole, Justin Rose made history for the TGL with an albatross, a rare and spectacular three-under-par achievement, with a 4-iron from 210 meters. The crowd at the SoFi Center erupted, and even Tiger Woods noted that he never achieved an albatross in his career. This remarkable shot pushed Los Angeles’s lead to 5:1.

Jupiter Links countered on the 12th and 13th holes, earning three points. Kevin Kisner made a par on 12 after Collin Morikawa received a penalty. Max Homa’s birdie and accepted hammer throw brought New York’s score closer, making the match competitive again at 4:5.
Closing Moments: Los Angeles Seals the Win
Los Angeles saved a hammer for the penultimate hole, which New York accepted to stay in the match. Collin Morikawa’s par secured Los Angeles’s win, and New York failed to gain points on the final hole, concluding with an 8:4 victory for Los Angeles.
