TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a strong team effort and a historic moment from Justin Rose, the Los Angeles team defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday, at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) match featured the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club (with Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) facing off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was marked by the first albatross in Tomorrow Golf League history, achieved by Justin Rose. It was in the second phase, the Singles, that Los Angeles clearly secured the win.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

In the opening phase, known as Triples, Los Angeles threw down the first hammer on the second hole, quickly earning two points. Jupiter Links answered back with their first hammer on the fifth hole, gaining a key point. Los Angeles extended their lead further on the sixth hole. The Triples phase ended after the ninth hole with Los Angeles leading 4:1, partly due to a penalty incurred by Jupiter Links on the final triple hole.

In the Singles phase, the momentum shifted sharply in Los Angeles’s favor. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole, a par 5, with a powerful 300-meter drive onto the fairway. Max Homa replied with a solid but shorter shot, placing Jupiter Links in a good position to attempt a comeback.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose’s First Albatross in TGL

Justin Rose then made history on the tenth hole, striking a 4-iron from 210 meters to score the league’s first ever albatross, electrifying the crowd at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he never achieved an albatross in his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’s lead to 5:1.

On the 12th and 13th holes, Jupiter Links fought back, scoring three points. Kevin Kisner made a par on the 12th hole after Collin Morikawa took a penalty. Max Homa secured two points with a birdie following a hammer accepted by Los Angeles, narrowing the score to 4:5 and setting up an exciting finish.

Final Holes Decide: Los Angeles Seals the Win

Los Angeles had saved a hammer for the penultimate hole, which Jupiter Links accepted to avoid elimination. Collin Morikawa’s par on this hole clinched the match for Los Angeles. The New Yorkers failed to recover points on the last hole, and the match ended 8:4 in favor
