With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.
On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) faced off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first ever albatross in Tomorrow Golf League history. It was only in the second phase, known as the Singles, that the Los Angeles Golf Club clearly secured their win.
Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead
In the Triples phase, on the second hole, Los Angeles threw the first hammer securing two points immediately. Jupiter Links responded on the fifth hole with their own hammer, earning a valuable point. Los Angeles extended their lead with another point on the sixth hole. The Triples ended after the ninth hole with Los Angeles leading 4:1, after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty stroke on the final hole.
During the Singles phase, the momentum shifted decisively to Los Angeles. Justin Rose began the tenth hole (Par 5) with a powerful 300-meter tee shot down the fairway. Max Homa followed with a solid but shorter shot landing just before the green, positioning New York for a comeback.
Historic Moment: Justin Rose Makes First TGL Albatross
However, on the tenth hole, Justin Rose created a historic first in TGL history: with a 4-iron from 210 meters, he scored an albatross that electrified the crowd at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he had never achieved an albatross in his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.
