With a strong team effort and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.
On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) match featured the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, Akshay Bhatia) versus the Los Angeles Golf Club (Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first-ever albatross in TGL history, achieved by Justin Rose. The Los Angeles Golf Club secured a decisive win in the second phase, the Singles.
Triples Phase: Early Hammer Gives Los Angeles the Lead
During the Triples phase, Los Angeles threw the first hammer on the second hole, earning two points early. Jupiter Links responded with a hammer on the fifth hole to secure a vital point, but Los Angeles extended their lead again on the sixth hole. After nine holes, Los Angeles ended the Triples phase with a bogey and a 4:1 lead, helped by a penalty stroke to Jupiter Links on the last Triples hole.
In the Singles phase, Los Angeles gained momentum quickly. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (Par 5) with a confident 300-meter drive down the fairway. On the opposing team, Max Homa hit a solid but shorter drive, placing his second shot just short of the green, positioning New York well for a comeback.
Historic Moment: Justin Rose Makes First Albatross in TGL
Justin Rose then stunned the crowd at the tenth hole by making the first albatross in TGL history with a 4-iron from 210 meters. This remarkable shot electrified the fans, with even Tiger Woods noting he has never made an albatross in his career. This boosted Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.
