TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) featured a showdown between New York’s Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) and the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was marked by the first albatross in TGL history, a remarkable achievement by Justin Rose, and the Los Angeles team secured a clear win in the singles phase.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

During the Triples phase, Los Angeles struck first with a hammer on the second hole, scoring two points. Jupiter Links responded with their own hammer on the fifth hole, gaining a crucial point, but Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole. The Triples phase ended with Los Angeles leading 4:1 after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty on the final hole.

In the singles phase, the momentum continued in favor of Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (Par 5) with a powerful 300-meter drive. Max Homa, representing New York, followed with a solid but shorter shot landing just short of the green, giving New York a chance to gain points.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Achieves First Albatross in TGL

On the tenth hole, Justin Rose made TGL history by scoring an albatross with a 4-iron from 210 meters, thrilling the crowd at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he had never achieved an albatross himself. This remarkable shot increased Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

On holes 12 and 13, Jupiter Links clawed back three points. Kevin Kisner made a par on the 12th after Collin Morikawa incurred a penalty. Max Homa secured two additional points with a birdie hammer accepted by the opposing team, tightening the match to 4:5 late in play.

Closing Holes: Los Angeles Seals the Victory

Los Angeles deployed a saved hammer on the penultimate hole, which the New York team accepted to stay in the game. Collin Morikawa’s par secured the hole for Los Angeles, effectively sealing the victory. The final hole saw no points for New York, culminating in an 8:4 win for Los Angeles.
