TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory over Jupiter

With a commanding team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, the Los Angeles team beats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first-ever albatross in TGL history. It was only in the second phase, the singles, that the Los Angeles Golf Club secured a clear victory.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

In the first phase, called the Triples, the Los Angeles Golf Club threw the first hammer on the second hole, earning two points. On the fifth hole, Jupiter Links Golf Club scored its first hammer, earning a crucial point. Los Angeles extended their lead again on the sixth hole. After nine holes, Los Angeles ended the triples phase with a bogey and a score of 4:1, after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty stroke on the final triples hole.

During the singles phase, the momentum swung strongly toward Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (par 5) with a confident 300-meter tee shot using a driver. Max Homa of New York followed with a solid but shorter tee shot. His second shot landed just short of the green, putting New York in a good position to regain points.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Scores First Albatross in TGL

However, Justin Rose made history on the tenth hole by scoring the first albatross in TGL history with a 4-iron shot from 210 meters, electrifying fans at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, mentioning he had never scored an albatross in his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’s lead to 5:1.

On the 12th and 13th holes, Jupiter Links made a strong comeback with three points. Kevin Kisner made a par on the 12th after Collin Morikawa incurred a penalty stroke. Max Homa’s birdie and New York’s accepted hammer brought two additional points, making the closing match score 4:5 and creating tension.
