The GOAT wants a home game: Would Woods decline Ryder Cup 2027?

Speculations about Tiger as team captain, Scheffler injury-free, fun with DP World Tour and the Kordas. The Back Nine.

At the start of the year, a bit of speculation is allowed. Some disguise it as a prediction, a popular discipline in early January. The colleagues from the renowned US portal The Fried Egg presented a bold theory looking ahead to the upcoming golf year: The PGA of America offers Tiger Woods the position of captain for the Ryder Cup expedition in 2027 in Ireland, but the 50-year-old politely declines. He prefers to lead the US team when there’s a home game. The GOAT as skipper in a continental competition on home soil: this would probably surpass all fan hype experienced so far in US golf.

This again puts the PGA of America in a dilemma as hardly anyone else is suitable for the captaincy role. Not wanting Keegan Bradley to take the job again – Medinah loser Davis Love III got a second chance in 2016, again on home turf. Well, a bit of speculation is allowed… What else did the ‘Fried Egg’ team come up with:

McIlroy and teammate Keegan: It’s complicated

But last Friday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, the ‘Frogs’ not only battled Los Angeles but also faced a tense internal team situation. Rory McIlroy and teammate Keegan Bradley had to keep a good face during the indoor spectacle, although since the Bethpage
