TGL Expands: WTGL Launches LPGA Arena Golf in Winter 2026

The TGL is expanding with the new WTGL, an arena league for LPGA Tour players launching at the end of 2026.

The idea has been in the works for some time and is now official: The TGL is getting a sister league. What had been hinted at for months was confirmed at a press conference by TMRW CEO Mike McCarley and LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler at the SoFi Center in Florida. The TGL is entering its next phase, this time featuring women players.

WTGL: Familiar Concept, New Faces

What works for the men is set to work for women’s golf as well, relying on familiar elements: two teams, two hours, one match played in a high-tech setup including simulators, live greens, and shot clocks. Fans in the arena see every shot live, as do viewers watching on TV. Microphones are once again in constant use. “It’s about showing personality, not just performance,” said McCarley.

New Stage for Women’s Golf

For the LPGA, the new league is more than just an additional playing platform. WTGL is not merely about extra play days. The TGL has demonstrated that the arena format reaches new audiences who often only marginally follow traditional tournament golf. Over 40 percent of fans in the first season were aged 18 to 49, many with no prior connection to golf. This reach is now intended to benefit women’s golf as well.

Commissioner Craig Kessler, in office since summer 2025, sees the partnership with TMRW Sports as a strategic move. Fans will get to know the players better and experience their stories—not just follow scores. “We want to create closeness, trust, and bring our athletes into the spotlight,” said Kessler. Interest is high: many top players have already shown enthusiasm, and some have visited the SoFi Center to watch the men’s matches.
