TGL Season Opener: Atlanta Drive GC Faces New York GC Again

TGL kicks off its second season with a rematch between Atlanta Drive GC and New York GC at the SoFi Center.

The second TGL season begins with a familiar showdown as Atlanta Drive GC and New York Golf Club face off on December 28. These two teams closed out the inaugural season in the final, where Atlanta narrowly claimed victory in both matches by a single point. As reigning champions, Atlanta will raise their championship banner before the match begins, which will follow the familiar format of Triples and Singles segments. Both teams start with three Hammers, and Atlanta will tee off first. The lineups feature familiar names: Cameron Young, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Xander Schauffele for New York; Patrick Cantlay, Lucas Glover, and Billy Horschel for Atlanta.

Atlanta Drive GC returns with proven strengths

Atlanta enters the new TGL season with strong stats from last year. The team excelled in Singles play, leading the league in Hammer points. Billy Horschel topped the league in Singles points won, while Patrick Cantlay remained undefeated in Singles matches against New York. Lucas Glover stood out with a flawless fairway accuracy. New York GC, after starting the previous season 0–2, bounced back to reach the playoffs. Cameron Young led all players in total points and impressed with his power off the tee.

New season, new course dynamics

The TGL has introduced several technical upgrades for the new season. The GreenZone has been significantly expanded, allowing for more pin positions and varied putting lines. Additional actuators beneath the turf now enable adjustable contours, offering more tactical possibilities. The hole catalog has also been updated, featuring new holes like Stone & Steeple, Stinger, and Cenote. Team-themed holes such as Fore-0-Fore for Atlanta and Big Apple for New York add a unique flair. A total of 15 specially designed holes will be played.
