Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 against The Bay GC to remain undefeated.
Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clearly defined: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC entered the SoFi Center with a victory under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was making its season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4. The decisive lead was secured by the team of Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, particularly in the singles format where Atlanta claimed four of six possible points. After a balanced start, Atlanta started to dominate from hole 11. \”We come in here, practice, play our game – it fits,\” said Horschel. Even without the injured Justin Thomas, things are running well, demonstrating the squad’s depth. This marked the ninth win in their last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.
TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Game
For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup was on the scoreboard for Atlanta and again played a pivotal role. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt just under nine feet on hole 2. The Bay immediately responded with a hammer play on the following holes, leading 2:1. The first clear momentum shift came on hole 6, known as \”Alpine,\” when Gotterup chipped in for eagle, leveling the match. Although The Bay did not use their hammer, the emotional impact was significant: tie game. \”I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lights it’s not easy,\” Gotterup said later. \”But when you make such putts, you know what to expect.\”
