Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their undefeated streak.
Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clearly defined: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC arrived at the SoFi Center with a victory already under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was set for their first match of the season. After 15 holes played, the final score was 7-4. The decisive lead was built by the team featuring Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles format where Atlanta claimed four out of six points. After an even start, Atlanta took control from hole 11. \”We come in here, train, play our game – it fits,\” said Horschel. Despite the absence of the injured Justin Thomas, the team depth showed as they claimed their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.
TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into The Match
Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta again, playing a central role for the second consecutive time. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead on hole 2 with a par putt from nearly nine feet. The Bay responded immediately with using the hammer, taking a 2-1 lead. The mood shifted clearly on hole 6, called \”Alpine,\” when Gotterup chipped in for eagle, leveling the score. Although The Bay didn’t use the hammer here, the emotional impact was notable. \”I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lights it’s not easy,\” Gotterup said later. \”But when you make those putts, you know what to expect.\”
