Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 against The Bay GC, remaining undefeated this season.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, the roles were clear: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC came to the SoFi Center with a season-opening win, while The Bay Golf Club was gearing up for its first match of the season. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4. The decisive lead was secured by the team featuring Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles matches where Atlanta collected four out of six points. After a balanced start, Atlanta pulled ahead at hole 11. \”We come in, practice, play our game – it fits,\” said Horschel. Despite the absence of injured Justin Thomas, the team’s depth showed strong. This marked the ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into The Game

For the second consecutive match, Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from just under nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded immediately on the following holes with hammer plays, briefly leading 2:1. The first definite momentum shift occurred at hole 6, \”Alpine,\” when Gotterup chipped in for eagle to level the match. Even without a hammer play from The Bay, the emotional impact was clear: tie game. \”I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting it’s not easy,\” Gotterup said later. \”But when you’ve made those putts, you know what to expect.\”
