TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 over The Bay GC and remains undefeated.

The roles before the third match of the new TGL season were clear: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC came into the SoFi Center with a win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was facing its first outing of the new season. After 15 holes played, the final score was 7:4. The decisive lead was achieved by the team around Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles format where Atlanta secured four out of six points. After an even start, Atlanta turned serious after hole 11. “We come in, practice, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Despite the absence of injured Justin Thomas, the team’s depth showed. It marked their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup featured on the scoreboard for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from just under nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded immediately with hammer plays on subsequent holes, putting Atlanta behind 1:2. The first clear momentum shift came on hole 6, called “Alpine,” where Gotterup chipped in for eagle to level the score again. Even without The Bay using their hammer, the emotional impact was clear: tie game. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting, it’s not easy,” Gotterup said later. “But when you make putts like that, you know what to expect.”
