TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, remaining undefeated this season.

The roles going into the third match of the new TGL season were clearly defined: defending champions Atlanta Drive GC arrived at the SoFi Center with a season-opening win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was making its debut of the new campaign. After 15 holes played, the final result was 7-4. The decisive lead was earned by the team of Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles format where Atlanta picked up four of six possible points. After a balanced start, Atlanta pulled ahead from hole 11. “We come in here, practice, play our game – it works,” said Horschel. Despite the injured Justin Thomas being absent, the team’s depth proved strong. This marked their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back into the Match

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead on hole 2 with a par putt from just under nine feet. The Bay responded immediately using the Hammer on the following holes, taking a 2-1 lead. The first major momentum shift occurred on hole 6, known as \”Alpine.\” After The Bay had evened the score, Gotterup made a chip-in eagle to bring Atlanta back on level terms. Though The Bay didn’t use the Hammer, the emotional impact was clear: the match was tied. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lights it’s not easy,” Gotterup later said. “But putting shots like that, you know what to expect.”
