TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clearly defined: defending champions Atlanta Drive GC came to the SoFi Center with a win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was set for their season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7-4. The key advantage was secured by the team of Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, who excelled in the singles format, taking four of six points. After a balanced start, Atlanta turned up the heat from hole 11. “We come in here, practice, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Despite injured Justin Thomas, the depth of the squad shows as they continue to succeed. This was the ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup scored for Atlanta and was a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from just under nine feet on hole 2. The Bay answered quickly with hammer plays, pushing Atlanta behind 1-2. The first significant momentum shift happened on hole 6, called “Alpine.” After The Bay had leveled the score, Gotterup chipped in for eagle to tie it again. Though The Bay did not use their hammer, the emotional impact was clear: tie game. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the light, it’s not easy,” Gotterup said. “But when you make shots like these, you know what to expect.”
