TGL: Atlanta Drive GC extends winning streak against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their unbeaten run.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clearly defined: defending champions Atlanta Drive GC arrived at the SoFi Center with a victory under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was making their season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4 in favor of Atlanta Drive. The decisive lead came in the singles format, where Atlanta secured four of six possible points through players like Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup. After an even start, Atlanta pulled ahead from hole 11 onwards. \”We come in, train, play our game – it fits,\” said Horschel. Even without the injured Justin Thomas, Atlanta’s depth showed strongly. This marked their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches, an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup brings Atlanta back into the game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup appeared on the scoreboard for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he gave Atlanta a lead with a nearly nine-foot par putt on hole 2. The Bay responded immediately by using the Hammer on subsequent holes to take a 2:1 lead. The first big momentum shift came on hole 6, \”Alpine,\” when Gotterup chipped in for eagle, leveling the match. Even though The Bay did not throw the Hammer here, the emotional impact was significant: tie game. \”With all the lighting, trying to see as much as possible on the greens isn’t easy,\” Gotterup later said. \”But when you make putts like that, you know what to expect.\”
