New holes, bigger greens, more cameras and team signature holes: ‘We’re playing a high-tech video game,’ says Billy Horschel.
It’s Game Day: The Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) kicks off its second season today at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The season runs through March 3 and opens with a rematch of the inaugural final, where Atlanta Drive edged out New York on the final hole to claim the first indoor title.
Tiger Woods joins the action – with a mic
The six teams remain unchanged, though superstars and TGL co-owners Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas are sidelined due to back surgeries. Woods, however, has promised to attend every Jupiter Links GC match starting January 13, mic’d up and ready to contribute. The 15-time major winner is expected to add commentary and energy from the sidelines—let’s see how the GOAT performs as a showman.
Tech upgrades and signature holes
The TGL has made several technical upgrades. The Green Zone has been expanded by 38% to nearly 500 square meters, now offering 12 pin positions. Two bunkers were enlarged while one was removed. The synthetic turf has been adjusted so that all chips now go with the grain, allowing for more creativity. Wyndham Clark of The Bay notes, ‘The green is easier to read now, which helps the best putters.’
Signature holes are also new this season. Each team has a custom-designed hole reflecting its identity. The Bay’s ‘Bay Breaker’ features redwood trees and San Francisco fog, while New York’s ‘Big Apple’ showcases the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty. Atlanta’s ‘Fore-O-Fore’ includes a silhouette of the Georgia capital.
Virtual Eye and SmartPin Cam return
The SoFi Center now boasts 79 cameras and an improved Virtual Eye system for better shot tracking and ball roll analysis. The award-winning SmartPin Cam also returns, offering 360-degree live views from the flagstick’s perspective. With these innovations, TGL continues to blend golf with immersive entertainment. Let the games begin.
