New holes, bigger green, more cameras and team signature holes: ‘We’re playing a high-tech video game,’ says Billy Horschel.
It’s game time: The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) kicks off its second season today at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, running through March 3. The opener is a rematch of last year’s final, with Atlanta Drive facing New York in a high-tech indoor golf showdown.
Tiger Woods joins the show – with a mic
The six teams remain unchanged, but superstars Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas will sit out early matches as they recover from back surgeries. Woods, however, has promised to be present at every Jupiter Links GC match starting January 13, mic’d up and ready to contribute. The 15-time major champion’s commentary could add a new layer of entertainment to the league, as fans await his impact as a vocal leader on and off the screen.
Signature holes and virtual drama
Each team now has its own signature hole, designed by top architects like Gil Hanse and Nicklaus Design. From San Francisco’s foggy Redwood-lined Bay Breaker to New York’s Big Apple hole with views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, the visuals are stunning. Atlanta’s Fore-O-Fore features a skyline silhouette, while Gil Hanse’s Stone & Steeple includes a church and cemetery to punish errant shots with dramatic flair.
Tech upgrades: Bigger greens and more cameras
The putting green has expanded by 38%, now nearly 500 square meters with 12 pin positions. Over 600 actuators simulate realistic slopes and breaks. ‘The green is easier to read now,’ says Wyndham Clark, ‘which benefits the best putters.’ Artificial turf fibers now align with the grain, enhancing chip shots and viewer excitement. The SoFi Center now boasts 79 cameras and an upgraded Virtual-Eye system, including the award-winning SmartPin Cam offering 360-degree pin views. Let the games begin.
