New holes, bigger green, more cameras and team signature holes: ‘We’re playing a high-tech video game,’ says Billy Horschel.
It’s game time again: The Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) kicks off its second season at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, running through March 3. The season opener is a rematch of last year’s final, where Atlanta Drive edged out New York on the final hole to claim the inaugural indoor title.
Tiger Woods mic’d up for Jupiter Links
All six teams return, but stars Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas will sit out for now as they recover from back surgeries. Woods, however, has promised to be present at every Jupiter Links GC match starting January 13, mic’d up and ready to contribute from the sidelines. As a co-owner of TGL and 15-time major champion, his presence is expected to add entertainment value both on and off the screen.
Tech upgrades and signature holes
The TGL format continues to evolve. The putting green has been expanded by 38% to nearly 500 square meters, now offering twelve pin positions instead of seven. Over 600 actuators simulate slopes and breaks, making the green easier to read—advantageous for elite putters, says Wyndham Clark. The artificial turf has also been reoriented so every chip is now played with the grain, allowing for more creativity and viewer excitement.
Six new signature holes have been introduced, each themed for a specific team. New York’s ‘Big Apple’ hole features the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty, while The Bay’s ‘Bay Breaker’ includes redwoods and fog with Alcatraz in the distance. Gil Hanse’s ‘Stone & Steeple’ hole for Boston showcases a church and cemetery, reminding players that errant shots may not survive long.
Enhanced viewing experience
The SoFi Center now boasts 79 cameras, including the award-winning SmartPin Cam offering 360-degree views from the flagstick’s perspective. Virtual-Eye technology has also been upgraded for better shot tracking and ball roll visualization. With Tiger Woods on-site and new tech in play, TGL aims to deliver a next-level golf entertainment experience this season.
