New holes, bigger green, more cameras and team signature holes: ‘We’re playing a high-tech video game,’ says Billy Horschel.
It’s game time again: The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) returns for its second season at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, running through March 3. The season opener features a rematch of the inaugural final, where Atlanta Drive edged out New York on the final hole to claim the first-ever TGL title.
Tiger Woods returns – with a mic
All six teams remain unchanged, but stars Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas will sit out the early matches due to back surgery recovery. However, Woods, a TGL co-owner, has promised to attend every Jupiter Links GC match starting January 13, mic’d up and ready to contribute. As the 15-time major winner lends his voice to the action, fans are eager to see how the GOAT performs as a commentator and motivator.
Signature holes and tech upgrades
The TGL arena has seen significant upgrades. The putting green has expanded by 38% to nearly 500 square meters, now offering 12 pin positions. Two bunkers were enlarged while one was removed. With 608 control elements shaping the slopes and breaks, Wyndham Clark of The Bay says, “The green is easier to read now, which benefits the best putters.”
Artificial turf fibers now point inward, allowing every chip to go with the grain. “It gives us more shot creativity and adds excitement for viewers,” Clark adds.
Six new signature holes have been introduced, designed by top architects like Gil Hanse and Nicklaus Design. Each team has its own hole—New York’s “Big Apple” features Manhattan’s skyline and the Statue of Liberty, while Atlanta’s “Fore-O-Fore” showcases the city’s silhouette. Gil Hanse’s “Stone & Steeple” includes a church and graveyard, reminding players that errant shots may not survive.
More cameras, smarter visuals
The SoFi Center now boasts 79 cameras and an enhanced Virtual-Eye system for better shot tracking and ball roll visualization. The award-winning SmartPin Cam returns, offering 360-degree views from the flagstick’s perspective. With entertainment at its core, TGL is banking on high-tech visuals and star power to captivate audiences worldwide. Let the games begin.
