New holes, bigger green, more cameras and team signature holes: ‘We’re playing a high-tech video game,’ says Billy Horschel.
It’s game time again: The Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) returns for its second season at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, running through March 3. The opener revisits last season’s final between Atlanta Drive and New York, promising another thrilling showdown in this high-tech indoor golf spectacle.
Tiger Woods goes mic’d-up
While the six teams remain unchanged, stars Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas will sit out early matches due to back surgery recovery. However, Woods, a TGL co-owner, has pledged to attend every Jupiter Links GC match starting January 13, fully mic’d up. Fans can expect the 15-time major champion to provide commentary and insight, adding entertainment value as he steps into a new role as on-course host.
Tech upgrades and signature holes
The TGL arena has undergone major upgrades. The putting green has expanded by 38% to nearly 500 square meters, now featuring 12 pin positions. Over 600 actuators simulate realistic slopes and breaks. Wyndham Clark of The Bay noted, ‘The green is easier to read now, which benefits the best putters.’ Additionally, turf fibers now face inward, making every chip shot play with the grain for more dynamic ball control.
Each team now has a designated signature hole, like The Bay’s ‘Bay Breaker’ with towering redwoods and a foggy San Francisco skyline, or New York’s ‘Big Apple’ with views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Gil Hanse’s new design, ‘Stone & Steeple,’ features a church and graveyard, reminding players that errant shots can be deadly—at least for their scorecards.
More cameras, more action
The SoFi Center now boasts 79 cameras, including the award-winning SmartPin Cam offering 360-degree views from the flagstick. Enhanced Virtual-Eye technology allows better shot tracking and comparisons, elevating the viewer experience. With Tiger Woods on the mic and Billy Horschel back in action, TGL Season Two is set to deliver a unique blend of sport and spectacle.
