At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, the TGL continues with its innovative format: six teams, each consisting of four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square foot high-tech facility with seating for around 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, each match consists of 15 holes, divided into two parts: nine holes of alternate shot triples and six holes of direct singles match play. The season features five regular matches per team followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following an NHL-style system, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL Reflects on the New Year
This stage brings well-known faces together, and as the new season begins, TGL offers insights into the players’ resolutions, which range from small to significant personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: brewing coffee at home instead of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready; he just needs to learn to use it. Billy Horschel aimed for a broader goal: becoming a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it brief. “I don’t do that stuff. I’m just me,” he said with dry humor, the type who doesn’t need a show. Horschel was impressed, saying, “We all wish we were Xander,” laughing. Schauffele responded dryly, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but hadn’t set a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala kept it short and sweet: “Stay injury-free. Don’t play badly.” And Justin Rose? He reflected on past resolutions that didn’t stick and vowed to change that this time: “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
