At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players ahead of their match day. With its second season underway, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. The matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square-foot high-tech complex hosting around 1,600 spectators. Rather than traditional 18-hole rounds, each match consists of 15 holes split into two segments: nine holes in a team alternating format (‘Triples’) and six holes in head-to-head singles competition (‘Singles’). The season includes five regular matches per team followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following the NHL model, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s Take on New Year
This stage brings familiar faces together on the course, and to kick off the new season, TGL offers insights into the players’ personal New Year’s resolutions. These range from small to profound goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ each morning. The machine is set up; only the operator is missing. Billy Horschel aimed higher, desiring to become a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Opts Out of Resolutions
Xander Schauffele was succinct: ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly—a man who doesn’t need the spotlight. Horschel was impressed. ‘We all wish we were Xander,’ he joked. Schauffele replied dryly, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen shared a clear wish: more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but had no resolution yet. Sahith Theegala kept it simple: ‘Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.’ Justin Rose reflected on past resolutions that failed and vowed to do better this year: ‘No more years breaking my resolutions.’
