At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, the TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each featuring four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square-foot high-tech facility seating around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in alternating team play (“Triples”) and six in direct singles competition (“Singles”). The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following an NHL-style system, including bonuses for overtime.
New Year’s Resolutions on the TGL Stage
This unique stage brings familiar faces together on the course as the TGL offers a glimpse into their players’ personal New Year’s resolutions — ranging from small practical goals to larger personal ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is set up, just waiting for him to start using it. Billy Horschel had a broader objective: becoming a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Chooses No Resolution
Xander Schauffele kept it short and simple: “I don’t do resolutions. I’m just me,” he said dryly — the type who doesn’t need a show. Horschel admired that, joking, “We all wish we were Xander.” Schauffele replied with a grin, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to compete in more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but hadn’t set a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala kept his simple: “Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.” And Justin Rose? He reflected on past resolutions that didn’t stick and aims to make this year different: “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
