At the turn of the year, TGL shares personal New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, the TGL advances with its innovative format: six teams, each consisting of four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 setup. The matches are held indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech complex accommodating around 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches include 15 holes split into two segments: nine holes in a team rotation (‘Triples’) and six holes of direct one-on-one play (‘Singles’). The season features five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded similar to the NHL format, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL Players Reflect on New Year’s Goals
This stage brings familiar faces to the course, as TGL reveals its players’ resolutions for the upcoming season. These range from small personal goals to broader ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: to make coffee at home instead of daily visits to Starbucks or Dunkin’s. The coffee machine is ready; the operation, still to be mastered. Billy Horschel aimed higher, striving to be a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Sticks to Being Himself
Xander Schauffele kept it brief: ‘I don’t do resolutions. I’m just me,’ he said plainly, avoiding any showmanship. Horschel was impressed: ‘We all wish we were Xander,’ he joked. Schauffele replied dryly, ‘I’m not sure… maybe you’d be happier.’

Meanwhile, Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to compete in more tournaments with Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but had no resolution yet. Sahith Theegala kept it simple: ‘Stay injury-free. Don’t play poorly.’ Justin Rose reflected on past resolutions that failed and intends to do things differently this year: ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
