At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
As the second season begins, TGL continues with its innovative concept: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Games take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square foot high-tech complex with seating for around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes split into two sections: nine holes played in a team alternating format called ‘Triples’ and six holes in direct head-to-head ‘Singles’ matchups. The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final, with points awarded following an NHL-style system, including overtime bonuses.
New Year’s Resolutions: Coffee, Character, and Continuity in TGL
This stage brings familiar faces together, and at the start of the new season, TGL offers insights into its players’ personal New Year’s resolutions. These range from small daily habits to broader personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach with his resolution to make coffee at home instead of stopping by Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning—the machine is ready, but he’s yet to master its use. Billy Horschel aimed higher, focusing on becoming a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Opts Out of Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it brief: ‘I don’t do that. I just am,’ he said dryly—a type who needs no fanfare. Horschel was impressed, joking, ‘We’d all like to be Xander.’ Schauffele replied humorously, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: more tournaments played alongside Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but had no resolution ready. Sahith Theegala was succinct: ‘Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.’ Justin Rose reflected on past resolutions that never came to fruition and vowed to do better this year: ‘No more years of failing my resolutions.’
