At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. The matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech complex seating approximately 1,600 spectators. Instead of 18-hole classics, there are 15 holes per match, divided into two segments: nine holes of alternate shot play (‘Triples’) and six holes of head-to-head singles. The season features five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinal and best-of-three finals. Points are awarded following the NHL model, including bonuses for overtime.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: How TGL Thinks at the Year’s Turn
This stage also brings familiar faces together on the course, and at the start of the new season, TGL offers insight into its players’ resolutions. These range from small to significant personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’s every morning. The machine is ready; he just needs to operate it. Billy Horschel’s goal was more fundamental: becoming a better version of himself, particularly off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolution
Xander Schauffele kept it brief. ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly—typical of someone who needs no show. Horschel was impressed. ‘We’d all like to be Xander,’ he laughed. Schauffele retorted dryly: ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but didn’t have a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala kept it short and clear: ‘Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.’ And Justin Rose? He recalled past resolutions that didn’t work and aims to do better this year: ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
