At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, the TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. The matches are held indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech facility with seating for about 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, each match consists of 15 holes split into two segments: nine holes played in a ‘triples’ alternate-shot format and six holes in singles head-to-head play. The season features five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded in an NHL-style system, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s Reflection at New Year
This unique stage brings together familiar faces on the course, and as the new season kicks off, TGL offers insight into the players’ personal New Year’s resolutions. These range from small to significant. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: brewing coffee at home instead of stopping by Starbucks or Dunkin’ daily. The machine is ready – just needs an operator. Billy Horschel aimed higher, aspiring to become a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it simple. ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly – the type who needs no show. Horschel was impressed, joking, ‘We’d all like to be Xander.’ Schauffele replied dryly, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but hadn’t set a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala was succinct: ‘Stay injury-free. Don’t play badly.’ Justin Rose reflected on his past failed resolutions and wants to make this year different. ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
