As the new year begins, TGL golfers reveal their personal resolutions before hitting the course.
Entering its second season, the TGL continues with its innovative approach: six teams, each featuring four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech complex with seating for around 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, each match consists of 15 holes split into two segments: nine alternate-shot holes (‘Triples’) followed by six singles holes played head-to-head. The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs featuring semifinals and a best-of-three final series. Scoring is modeled after the NHL system, including overtime bonuses.
New Year’s Resolutions from TGL Players
This stage brings together familiar faces on the course, and at the start of the new season, TGL offered a glimpse into the players’ resolutions, ranging from small personal goals to bigger ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready—the operation still needs work. Billy Horschel had a more fundamental aim: becoming a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Opts Out of Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it brief. “I don’t do that. I’m just me,” he said dryly—no showmanship needed. Horschel was impressed. “We’d all like to be Xander,” he joked. Schauffele replied, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to play more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but had no resolution of his own yet. Sahith Theegala kept it simple: “Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.” And Justin Rose? He reflected on past resolutions that failed and vowed to do better this time. “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
