TGL Golf Stars Share New Year’s Resolutions Ahead of Season Start

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.

Entering its second season, the TGL continues with its innovative format: six teams, each featuring four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. The games are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech facility with seating for around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes split into two parts: nine holes played in a team format called “Triples” and six holes in direct singles matchups. The season includes five regular meetings per team, followed by playoffs featuring semifinals and a best-of-three final. The point system is inspired by the NHL, including bonuses for overtime.

New Year’s Resolutions from TGL Golf Stars

This unique stage brings together familiar faces on the course. At the start of the new season, TGL shared insights into their players’ resolutions, ranging from practical to personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a down-to-earth approach: making coffee at home rather than going out to Starbucks or Dunkin’s daily. The coffee machine is ready, but the operation still needs to be figured out. Billy Horschel aimed higher, striving to become a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.

Xander Schauffele Chooses No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it brief. “I don’t do that. I just am me,” he said dryly – the type who needs no spotlight. Horschel was impressed, laughing: “We would all like to be Xander.” Schauffele replied dryly, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to play more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but hadn’t set a resolution yet. Sahith Theegala was straightforward: “Stay healthy. Don’t play poorly.” Justin Rose reflected on past failed resolutions and vowed to do better this year: “No more years where I don’t stick to my resolutions.”
