At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions from its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech facility seating around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, each match features 15 holes split into two segments: nine holes of alternate shot play (‘Triples’) and six holes of head-to-head singles. The season consists of five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following an NHL-style system, including overtime bonuses.
New Year’s Resolutions Reflecting Coffee, Character, and Continuity
This platform brings well-known faces together on the course, and to kick off the new season, TGL offers insight into its players’ resolutions. These range from small daily habits to broader personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready; now just mastering its use. Billy Horschel’s aim was more fundamental: to become a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it brief: ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly—a type not needing a show. Horschel was impressed, joking, ‘We all wish we were Xander.’ Schauffele replied wryly, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to play more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but had no resolution ready yet. Sahith Theegala kept it short and clear: ‘Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.’ And Justin Rose? He recalled past resolutions that failed and vowed to do better this year: ‘No more years of not keeping my resolutions.’
