TGL Golf Stars Share New Year’s Resolutions Ahead of Season

At the turn of the year, TGL shares personal New Year’s resolutions from its star players ahead of match day.

Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-vs-3 format. Matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech facility with seating for about 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches feature 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in team play (‘Triples’) and six in direct head-to-head (‘Singles’). The season consists of five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded in a manner inspired by the NHL, including overtime bonuses.

Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s New Year Outlook

This stage brings familiar faces together, and at the start of the new season, TGL gives an insight into players’ resolutions—ranging from small personal goals to larger ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of grabbing it from Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready; the operation just needs practice. Billy Horschel aimed higher, striving to become a better version of himself, especially off the golf course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it brief. “I don’t do that. I’m just me,” he said dryly—a type who needs no show. Horschel was impressed. “We’d all like to be Xander,” he laughed. Schauffele responded in kind: “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but had no resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala kept it simple and direct: “Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.” And Justin Rose? He reflected on past years’ failed resolutions and wants to make a change this time: “No more years where I don’t stick to my resolutions.”
