The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and sleek design. Discover the details of these game-improvement irons.
TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, a next generation of game-improvement irons designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, as well as sound and feel, addressing both performance and aesthetics.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next Generation Game-Improvement Irons
A key development focus was the clubface. Its asymmetrical construction, with a higher toe than heel, often causes uneven deformation at impact in many game-improvement irons, leading to additional cut-spin and shots drifting right when hit towards the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a clubface engineered to flex more evenly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter trajectories with high ball speed.
Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements
Beyond pure performance, feel was crucial. Both models include a sound stabilizer bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing the topline and reducing unwanted impact noise. The ECHO damping material has been moved higher in the clubface to reduce vibrations while maintaining desired feedback. Optimized clubfaces and new internal structures further boost speed and consistent distance.
Two Options for Different Player Types
The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design, featuring thinner toplines, shorter blade length, and less offset with a seamless hosel transition. FLTD CG positions the center of gravity low in long irons for higher launch and good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons to aid distance control. The Speed Pocket in irons 4 to 8 maintains ball speed on low strikes.
The Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness with larger heads, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines enhancing stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, paired with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, benefiting slower swing speeds by improving clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.
New Design for Qi Max and Qi Max HL Irons
