The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and design in a complete game-improvement package.
TaylorMade introduces the Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, representing a new generation of game-improvement irons designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, as well as sound and feel, addressing both performance needs and aesthetics.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons
A key focus in development was the face design. Traditional game-improvement irons have asymmetrical faces that tend to bend unevenly at impact, causing additional cut-spin and shots that tend to curve right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a face engineered to bend more uniformly, resulting in more stable ball flight and straighter trajectories while maintaining high ball speed.
Sound, Feel and Internal Enhancements
Besides pure performance, impact feel was vital. Both models integrate a sound stabilizer bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing the face and reducing unwanted noises during impact.
The ECHO damping system material was also relocated higher in the face to reduce vibrations, producing a solid sound without sacrificing feedback. Optimized face designs and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.
Two Options for Different Player Types
Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design, featuring thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and less offset where the head transitions seamlessly into the hosel. The FLTD CG places a low center of gravity in long irons for higher launch and good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons for better distance control. From 4 through 8 irons, the Speed Pocket maintains ball speed on low-face strikes.
The Qi Max HL irons prioritize maximum forgiveness, with larger clubhead profiles, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines for added stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, paired with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips to benefit players with slower swing speeds by improving clubhead speed, launch angle, and stopping ability.
New Look for Qi Max and Qi Max HL Irons
