The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons combine distance, forgiveness, and design. Discover the details of these game-improvement irons.
TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, a new generation of game-improvement irons focused on enhancing distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, also addressing aesthetic needs.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons
A key development focus was the clubface, which being asymmetrical with a higher toe than heel, often causes uneven deformation on impact, leading to additional cut-spin and shots drifting right. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a redesigned clubface that bends more evenly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter ball flights with high ball speed.
Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements
Both models include a sound stabilization bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing the topline and reducing unwanted impact noise. The ECHO damping system material was moved higher into the clubface to reduce vibrations, providing a solid sound without losing feedback. Individually optimized clubfaces and new internal structures further boost speed and consistent distance.
Two Designs for Different Player Types
The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a compact design with thinner toplines, shorter blade length, and less offset where the head smoothly transitions into the hosel. FLTD CG technology positions the center of gravity low in long irons for high launches and good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons for distance control. The Speed Pocket in irons 4 to 8 maintains ball speed on low strikes.
Conversely, the Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness with a larger head profile, higher clubfaces, and thicker soles and toplines for added stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultralight heads, shafts, and grips, benefiting players with lower swing speeds by enhancing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.
New Design for Qi Max and Qi Max HL Irons
