The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and design in a complete package. Details on the latest game-improvement irons.
TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, representing a new generation of game-improvement irons designed for enhanced distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, meeting both performance needs and aesthetic preferences.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons
A key development focus was the clubface. Many game-improvement irons feature an asymmetrical design with a higher toe than heel, leading to uneven deformation on impact, especially on toe hits, causing additional cut spin and shots veering right. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a face engineered to bend more evenly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter ball flights at high ball speeds.
Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements
Beyond pure performance, feel was also crucial. Both models integrate a sound stabilization bar connecting the back bar to the top edge, stiffening the top edge and reducing unwanted noise at impact. The ECHO damping system material is positioned higher in the face to reduce vibrations, providing a solid sound without losing feedback. Optimized faces and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.
Two Designs for Different Player Types
The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a compact design, featuring thinner top edges, shorter blade lengths, and less offset where the head transitions seamlessly into the hosel. Utilizing FLTD CG technology, the center of gravity is lower in long irons to enable high launch with good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons to aid distance control. The Speed Pocket in irons 4 to 8 maintains ball speed on low strikes.
The Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness with larger heads, taller faces, wider soles, and thicker top edges for added confidence and stability. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, benefiting players with slower swing speeds by increasing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping power equally.
New Design for Qi Max and Qi Max HL Irons
Both models feature a bright, monochromatic design inspired by the P-Series. Available as steel shaft versions at €183 per iron and graphite shaft versions at €200 per iron. Pre-orders start on January 8, 2026, with availability in stores from January 29, 2026.
