Nick Dunlap makes a hole-in-one at the Cognizant Classic 2024. It’s a first for Dunlap on the PGA Tour. The 20-year-old was recently still an amateur and is only playing his seventh tournament on the tour in Florida. By winning the American Express, the American became the first amateur to win a tournament on the PGA Tour in 33 years.
Hole-in-one video: 8-iron achieves success
On the par 3 seventh hole at PGA National in Palm Beaches, Dunlap gets it just right. After consulting with his caddie, the man from Huntsville, Alabama opted for his 8-iron and sent the ball 175 yards on its journey.

The second day of the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour had it all: In addition to Tiger Woods’ withdrawal from the tournament and the disqualification of Jordan Spieth, Will Zalatoris provided a positive highlight in California with a fantastic Hole-in-One. With his ace, the American not only kept up with the leading group, but also won a brand new car for himself and his caddie.

Will Zalatoris got off to a fantastic start to the 2024 Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour with a round of 66. On the second day, however, things did not go so smoothly for the American: By the 14th hole, Zalatoris was one stroke over par and was about to lose touch with the leading group. On the par-3 14th hole, however, the 27-year-old pulled off a feat: With a 7-iron, Zalatoris managed an ace on the 184-yard par-3 hole during his second round at the Riviera Country Club. His ball landed on the front left edge of the green and slowly rolled into the hole. Thanks in part to the Hole-in-One, Zalatoris posted a round of 70 and is tied sixth place (-6) after two days.
New car for Zalatoris and his caddie thanks to par-3 ace
Will Zalatoris’ caddie Joel Stock also had good reason to be happy. Both will leave the tournament with a new car: While Zalatoris receives a Genesis GV80, Joel Stock can thank him for an electric Genesis Electrified GV70, the prize for the first ace of the week at the Genesis Invitational. “I think it was a 180, with the pin back, into the wind, and we just tried to hit it right down the middle of the gap between the two bunkers,” Zalatoris said after his round. “I was lucky it went in,” he added. “It was a nice little bonus.”
On the second day of the US Open 2022, the fans at The Country Club in Massachusetts (USA) were able to cheer loudly. Cameron Young took a swing at the sixth hole and holed out from 165 yards directly from the tee box.

The American thus scored the 48th (known) ace in the 122-year history of the US Open. Young had been rather mediocre so far and still had a chance to make the cut thanks to the eagle. After a 72 at the start, the 25-year-old experienced a debacle at hole 3. On the par-4 Cameron Young recorded an 8 and thus a quadruple bogey. For the round, the PGA Tour professional was already seven shots over par after 13 holes, but then started a series in which he framed the hole-in-one of three birdies at hole 6 (he had started on the 10th tee).
However, these five stroke wins within four holes were not enough; Cameron Young would also have needed a birdie on the last hole to make the cut at +3. As a result, he narrowly missed the weekend of the US Open 2022 by one stroke.

There are a total of four par-3 holes at TPC Sawgrass, the most notorious of which is 17 with the iconic island green. On this hole Shane Lowry scored the tenth ever hole-in-one in round 3 on Sunday, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Now Viktor Hovland hits another ace at the flagship event of the PGA Tour, this time at the 8th hole. For the 24-year-old, who had started at the 10th tee, it was the second-last hole and he sank the ball from 219 yards. The shooting star had already scored an eagle on hole 2. Hovland finished the round with a total of 68 strokes and climbed a few places on the leaderboard. Before the final round, the three-time winner on the PGA Tour is at four-under-par.

You couldn’t pick a better place for the first hole-in-one of your career. At the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Sam Ryder hits the perfect shot on what is probably the biggest party hole on the PGA Tour and makes the crowd go crazy.
The 32-year-old played the ball with a 54-degree wedge onto the green at the 124 yard par-3, the ball bounced briefly and rolled into the hole! After that, the cheers knew no bounds. Sam Ryder himself jumped into his caddie’s arms, high-fived his group partners and could hardly believe his luck. “Still kind of coming down off the adrenaline,” Ryder said, “it was pretty crazy.”
But it was not only a special moment for the golfer: the numerous fans at the legendary hole, which is completely surrounded by grandstands, knew no bounds. No one in the spectator stands was left dry, drinks were ecstatically spread into the air and cups were hurled onto the course. The 16th hole was a party mile and the title sponsor of the tournament was able to pursue his main occupation. The clean-up lasted about fifteen minutes before Brian Harman and his group could continue their round. For the spectators, too, the hole-in-one was unique: “The craziest thing I have ever seen” and “the greatest experience of my life”.
The ace on the 16th at TPC Scottsdale was the first since Francesco Molinari teed off at the same spot in 2015. It also brings back memories of other legendary hole-in-ones like Tiger Woods’ 25 years ago. For Sam Ryder, however, it’s quickly getting down to daily business. The American brought an even-par round into the clubhouse and will start Sunday’s final round in tied 29th place. “I’ll try and get ready for tomorrow and hopefully have a good day and finish the tournament strong,” Ryder said. He will, however, make sure that the staff around the event are well compensated: “All the drinks on me!”
