Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land: A Sanctuary That Leaves Nothing to Desire

The splendid ensemble in Germany’s green heart, Thuringia, is the ultimate retreat. A third golf course is soon to open.

It is said every space breathes the spirit of its owner. Rarely is the personal touch of the proprietors as palpable as in the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land. Just 20 minutes by car from the cultural city of Weimar, known for Goethe, Schiller, and the Bauhaus, the Grafe family has created a sanctuary where even the smallest detail speaks to the quality and style defined by its founders.

A Special Touch of Personal Hospitality

This note of personal hospitality shapes the entire resort: from the 94 rooms and suites of the hotel and the seven family residences to the LindenSpa, expanded in 2023 to 3,000 square meters with high-end wellness offerings, and the seven restaurants scattered throughout the resort.

Seven Restaurants, Two Michelin-Starred

Among them, the Masters led by Executive Chef Danny Schwabe and The First by Marcello Fabbri each proudly hold a Michelin star for their French-inspired and Italian haute cuisine, making Weimarer Land a unique culinary destination. The nearby Golden Braid restaurant focuses solely on Thuringian specialties. Additionally, the resort hosts the annual Culinary Open in January, a walking dinner event gathering star chefs from all over.

Golf Courses with Historic Inspiration in Thuringia

Originally designed by project architect Achim Reinmuth of Städler & Reinmuth Golf Design, the 18-hole Bobby Jones Champion Course was sculpted into the gentle landscapes of Thuringia—areas once walked by Germany’s famed poet Goethe over 200 years ago. By 2012, the two halves evolved into the wooded, artfully bunkered Goethe Course (5,971 meters, Par 72) nestled in the Weimar hills and the flatter Feininger Course (5,707 meters, Par 71) featuring water hazards and challenging greens. The original 6,280-meter Par 73 course remains preserved for major tournaments.

The resort complex also includes the charmingly named \”GolfHütte\” housing the golf reception, pro shop, and dining on the ground floor, and a dining hall for up to 120 guests known as the \”Champions Dinner Hall\” upstairs, alongside family-friendly amenities and an apartment house. Built to evoke a century-old ambiance, the facility opened in 2013.

The Königin Louise 9-hole course and the Luke Ross Hall with three Trackman simulators complement the golfing experience. The resort even features FIFA-standard football training pitches, emphasizing the owner’s vision to blend golf and hospitality through sport. This successful strategy attracted teams like Werder Bremen and British clubs, culminating in the English national team using the resort as their base camp during UEFA EURO 2024.

Spanning 450 hectares with 110 hectares of woodland, the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land offers three golf courses with 45 holes total, an indoor Trackman golf facility, a 3,000 square meter wellness area with indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpool, fitness rooms
