Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV to boost the new golf team ahead of extensive live coverage.
After securing exclusive broadcast rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has now also welcomed renowned commentator Gregor Biernath from Sky Sport. The coverage begins on January 15, 2026, featuring 131 events across two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive is Emerging for Golf’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognizable golf voices in the German-speaking world, joins MagentaTV leading a fresh expert team supported by golf specialists Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath stated: ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for the game of golf is emerging here. We can shape golf innovatively and shake things up at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial group’ with a ‘really good mix.’
The commentator lineup has also been refreshed: Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, well known as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also participate in the upcoming live broadcasts.
