Gregor Biernath switches from Sky to MagentaTV, joining the new golf team as extensive live broadcasts kick off.
After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is also moving from Sky Sport to MagentaTV. The broadcasts will begin on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 events on two channels as a new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive is Emerging for Golf’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognizable golf voices in the German-speaking world, is leaving Sky to lead MagentaTV’s new expert golf team. He will be supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath said about his move: ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive is emerging for golf. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’
New faces were also sought in the commentary team. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
