Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening its new golf team as live coverage ramps up.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV welcomes a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. Starting January 15, 2026, MagentaTV will be the new home for live golf on television, offering coverage of 131 events across two channels.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Great for Golf is Emerging”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is leaving Sky to lead the new expert team at MagentaTV. He will be supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath said about his move: “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive for golf is developing here. We can innovate and shake up golf coverage at MagentaTV.” He also described the team as a “cool editorial team” and a “really good mix.”
New faces have also been added to the commentary team. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known for his ice hockey coverage on MagentaSport, will also be part of the live broadcasts.
