MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Sky Sports Commentator Join

Gregor Biernath joins MagentaTV from Sky Sports, strengthening its new golf team as live broadcasts ramp up.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is now moving from Sky Sports to MagentaTV. The live broadcasts will begin next week, on January 15, 2026, and provide a new home for live golf on television, covering a total of 131 events across two channels.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Great is Emerging for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognizable golf voices in the German-speaking region, is transitioning from Sky Sports to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said, “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and great for golf is being created here. We can innovate and shake up golf coverage at MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” and praised it as a “really good mix.”

New faces were also brought in among the commentators. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, primarily known as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also be part of the upcoming live broadcasts.
