MagentaTV Strengthens Golf Coverage with Sky Commentator Gregor Biernath

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator from Sky Sport is now joining MagentaTV. The broadcasts start next week on January 15, 2026, and MagentaTV will offer a total of 131 live golf events across two channels as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized voices of golf in the German-speaking world, is switching from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath said, “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good can emerge here for golf. We can innovate and freshen up golf coverage at MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” and spoke of a “really good mix.”

New faces have also been brought in among the commentators. Michael Born, who has commented on handball and football for DAZN, will now join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, previously known as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
